As of November 1, Russia will no longer supply thermal coal to Ukraine. This coal is used for energy needs.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing Andriy Gerus said this.

We are talking about coal grades A (anthracite) and P (lean), – Gerus explained. According to the people's deputy, these brands of coal were imported by DTEK, Donbasenergo, and Tekhnova. The latter unites the Darnytsia, Sumy and Chernihiv thermal power stations.

Gerus emphasized that the ban does not apply to coking coal, but applies to that which is used in the energy industry. Such actions of Russia are similar to its actions in the fall of 2014," Gerus added.

Due to the lack of coal, Sloviansk TPP stopped working. It should be noted that a few days ago, due to the lack of coal, the Slovyansk TPP in Donetsk region stopped working. According to Ukrenergo, more than 2 dozen power units of various TPPs and CHPs have stopped working due to a lack of fuel.

Due to extremely low coal reserves, Ukraine will import electricity from Belarus and Russia. Imports from the aggressor country will start on November 1.
