On October 10, 2024, on the sidelines of the Senate, the Vice Minister of National Economy, Arman Kasyonov, announced how much money it is planned to use to build a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, reports Roman Belousov from Enertus AG .

The speaker emphasized that a decision has not yet been made about who will build the NPP.

"Accordingly, there is no understanding of how it will be financed (the construction of the nuclear power plant – ed. note). I know that one of the options for financing the construction of a nuclear power plant is to receive it for payments. The company that will build it can grant a deferral of payment. Accordingly, funds may not be needed for its financing. But now we can't confirm this for sure, because there is no understanding even who will build," said Arman Kasyonov.

He also answered whether the NPP construction project is unprofitable.

"How can a project that depends on tariffs be unprofitable? All energy-generating projects have costs. These costs are included in the tariff that will be served," said Arman Kasyonov.
